About Us

Our mission is to educate and engage Fremont County in the arts through learning opportunities and exhibitions that foster a strong arts community.

The Lander Art Center (LAC) was established in 2004 by a small group of passionate artists with an ever-evolving mission "to educate and engage the Fremont County community in the arts through learning opportunities and quality exhibitions that foster a strong arts community." In a town without dedicated art space, this eclectic cohort envisioned a home for artists to flourish. They displayed art, held classes based on each of their expertises, and sold supplies to local artists who would otherwise not have access to resources. The gallery in turn provided a space where these artists could sell their work and generate a stable income. LAC has developed into an organization focused on providing the entire community with a way to connect to the arts. This connection is cultivated in a multitude of ways: exhibitions, classes, open studios, artist panels, artist residency programs, cultural development, and professional resources designed to uplift and enrich the residents of Fremont County.

The Lander Art Center organizes two signature seasonal fundraisers: our summer art and music event, Riverfest, and our winter arts fair, Art in the Afternoon. Both events uplift local and regional artists.

Education is a fundamental component of our mission. Year round art classes are offered to youth of all ages and adults from aspiring through professional. Classes widely range in artistic techniques and mediums.
