Still-Life Painting

November 14, 15 & 16

Time: Daily 9am-4pm

Cost:  $250

Instructor: Tom Lucas

Description: Develop an eye for noticing the nuances of color and light.  Working with oil, students will paint intriguing still-life subjects, including both historical and contemporary Native American articles. The class will cover everything from setting up a still life to learning to see beyond the subject, as well as working with a limited palette. The basics of composition, color, value, edges and how to approach different surfaces of a subject will be explored using Tom Lucas's unique painting perspective.

Artist Tom Lucas is a professional oil painter and an Associate member of the Oil Painters of America.

Bring your own easel, canvases, paints, brushes, odorless turpentine, paper towels and plenty of determination.

Oils for limited palette:  White ( Titanium),  French Ultramarine, Raw Umber, Burnt  Umber, Yellow Ochre, Cad Yellow, Cad Red, Alizarin Crimson, Terra Rose, Prussian Blue and Liquin.
