Hone your craft! This is a foundation acting workshop for all levels. We focus on Shakespeare, but the tools can be applied to any text. From Word to Play provides actors, at any level of experience, practical and practicable means to inspired performances. Develop and transform into somebody else through text, becoming the character From Word to Play.  "We only need to use our natural talent to become aware of the treasure trove within us."—Diane Springford

Class Outline:

Week One: How to uncover the sound/language beneath the surface. Finding the deeper world within the character/actor

Week Two: How to free the language to convey needs and emotions.

Week Three: Physio-pyschological connection with the character. Experiencing language springing from our bodies as well as from our minds.

Week Four: Trusting in the authenticity and individuality of your character. Trusting your delivery of text can and should be unique.

NOTE: Students, please bring a short monologue, 1-2 minutes, memorization not necessary. We will provide text as well.

Each class explores a different ‘tool’ for expanding focus, specificity, confidence & fun!

Class is open to students age 12 and up.
