Week One - Block 1: Introduction

Welcome! This week, learn the foundations, history, and philosophy of Improv comedy through exposure to the various forms of Improvisation.

On Thursday, prepare to learn and play. On Saturday, gather for an hour for continued learning, interactive play and activities.

About your Instructor: Vincent Tropea is a 12 year Lander resident, and current reporter for County 10 News/host of 1330 KOVE AM - 107.7 FM’s morning radio show Coffee Time. Before Vincent became a reporter and radio show host, he was an educator here in Lander for 5 years, as well as an off and on bartender/pub trivia host. While in college, where he was also a head writer for a student-run/weekly/live sketch comedy TV series.

Vincent performed improv comedy alongside folks who went on to star on Saturday Night Live, perform on Comedy Central, and write for a number of still on-air comedy TV shows. Vincent has also been a standup comedian since college, and currently performs every month for Homebrewed Comedy Night at Tony's Pizza. He's excited to combine all of these learned skills from over the years to teach those who are interested in the art of improvisational comedy.

Why Improv?
Not only will you have a blast, make friends, get silly, and take some healthy steps out of your comfort zone ... you will also learn how to talk, speak, and perform in the momentunscripted with a comedic angle.

Improv permeates all realms of life. You will undoubtedly discover aspects of your own social and conversational fluidity. Improv not only encourages a more comedic perspective, it also has the potential to shift the practitioner's perspective from "Yes... but..." to "Yes, AND..."ultimately resulting in greater finesse (and more breathing room) for navigating day to day life.
